Beginnings

Things are shaping up for the release of my newest novel "The King of Sandpipers". The editor tells me that I will have it back soon for my review. Once that process is complete, I will post the first chapter here. In the meantime what is a Sandpiper?

A Sandpiper is a bird that scours the beach looking for food. That's all most people think a Sandpiper is, but that's just one example. Other examples are:

  • The Sandpiper is a 1965 movie starring Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor.
  • Several resorts and clubs use "The Sandpiper" as their name.
  • There is a small cruise vessel out of Toledo, Ohio named "The Sandpiper."
  • Sandpiper is a 2007 novel by Ellen Wittlinger.
  • Sandpipers can also be people who derive their livelihood from the beach.

The King of Sandpipers is a man with a need to so more than survive in Miami Beach. He found the perfect woman for himself but there are costs associated with living in a beach paradise and he finds that the beach can provide more than a suntan, or the occasional flounder.
