A Sandpiper is a bird that scours the beach looking for food. That's all most people think a Sandpiper is, but that's just one example. Other examples are:
- The Sandpiper is a 1965 movie starring Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor.
- Several resorts and clubs use "The Sandpiper" as their name.
- There is a small cruise vessel out of Toledo, Ohio named "The Sandpiper."
- Sandpiper is a 2007 novel by Ellen Wittlinger.
- Sandpipers can also be people who derive their livelihood from the beach.
The King of Sandpipers is a man with a need to so more than survive in Miami Beach. He found the perfect woman for himself but there are costs associated with living in a beach paradise and he finds that the beach can provide more than a suntan, or the occasional flounder.
